Truth or...Truth

Some things you may or may not know about me:
--I have 4 tattoos.
--I play the piano.
--I get hiccups when I eat something spicy. Not cute hiccups. Big ugly man hiccups.
--I've ridden in a blimp.
--I used to have my tongue and lip pierced, but only my nose now.
--In 6th grade I was the Houston reporter for a syndicated childrens' show called "Who, What, How Do You Know?". I got paid $50/episode. I was all kinds of cool in my CBS jacket, y'all!
--Peppermint makes me sneeze. My sister was the same way.
--I was on the dance team in highschool and college.
--Our 3rd child was conceived in our minivan in Mesquite, TX.
--I ran in a 5k race once. Once.
So...what may we or may we not know about YOU?

Some things we have in common:
I have 4 tattoos
I play the jembe (I'm told that this instrument doesn't really count as a real instrument, but I play it so I count it!)
I get the hiccups when I am hungry - they are also very manly hiccups (quite embarrassing for my kids)
I have my nose pierced
I dance/teach lyrical movement
I want to run a 5k race
Fun facts about me that are different:
The singer/rapper Ice T said "hey baby" to me at the first ever 'Lalapalooza' concert.
I met my husband in a tiny bar on the island of Guam (where he was the rock star lead singer of the band yo!)
I was born without wisdom teeth, (I hesitate to mention this because of the jokes that usually ensue)
I was born in England.
San Francisco is my favorite city
One of my all time favorite things is sleep (God was so awesome to give us sleep, he totally didn't have to!)
That's enough for now...
okay.... i'm feeling like the third wheel.... i do not have any tattoos - dang it!! but want one and if all goes well will have one by the end of the month... unless i wait to get one in hawaii!!!!
woo-hoo!!
i do not play any kind of instrument, but did play the violin when i was younger. my mother bought me one for my birthday about five years ago - it's still sitting in the closet, untouched.
i DO get the hiccups - when i eat baby carrots.... so i get them a lot, because i eat baby carrots almost every day... mine are quite manly as well...
i DO not have my nose pierced, because i have a really stinky flesh-colored mole on the side of my nose, which i would totally get removed if i was vain and all... but i'm not - ha ha - and so my nose will never be pierced....
i was a cheerleader most of my time through school - and we did some dancing. i remember one of the girls on the team, her mother had a brother that was a dancer from like new york or something - and he totally came and choreographed a dance for us to.... EYE OF THE TIGER!! it was awesome....
i have NEVER run a 5K race... i think i'd throw up. and i don't like to throw up.
some other things:
i knew the MOMENT i saw my husband that i would marry him. it took
okay... that anonymous was SO me. i don't know what hpappened. blogger is acting weird with comments today.... URG!!!
oh, and i just noticed it cut the rest of my facts off.... urg... i'm too tired now to retype them all....
okay... i've had my coffee and got my second wind.
i knew the MOMENT i first saw my husband that i would marry him. it took him four years to decide the same! :-)
i used to smoke - loved to smoke clove cigarettes - but stopped when i found out i had thyroid cancer. even though they said it had nothing to do with smoking, the C word is enough to scare you. i had my thyroid removed the VERY day of our first year wedding anniversary.
i LOVE to ski - love it. and even won a ski jump contest when i lived in alaska!
our family survived a horrific car accident two years ago - we were traveling 75 down the interstate when our back tire blew out, sending us into wild spins, and then we clipped the edge of the grass median, which then flipped us about four times. i thought we were all going to die, and we should have.... it is a miracle, but sometimes i forget how much of a miracle it really is.
i love brussel sprouts.
i make a VERY good friend, but can't seem to find any friends in the town that i live in... what's up with that??
i love big band music.
i love to talk... have you noticed??
darla is soooo funny.
i love everything that i am learning about all of you.
i have no tatoos. (change my mind too frequently...i re-arrange my furniture weekly.)
my ears are pierced 4 and 3 times. i never wear any earrings anymore. (metal allergy, which is also why i don't get a tatoo...my skin is stupid-sensitive.)
my hair is naturally platinum blonde. (once wanted to make part of it red but then found out there are metals in that dye, too....)
as i child i walked my pet chicken, Joey, around the block on a leash. then he began to crow (not cool in the city) and after a short stay with my German, county-living Grandma, eventually became chicken noodle soup.
as a kid i was a PK at WillowCreek in IL and overnight became a craftmatic bed salesman's daughter. (it's a great riches to rags story...i'm still sorting the damage.)
our daughter attended our wedding. (hee-hee, this joke is never getting old...especially now that she's 10 and thinks it's really cool, herself.)
i love music. especially my husband's music and anything ethereal. i met my husband when we were 15 and 17. he almost wrecked my '68 camero on our 2nd date.
i love creating things so i can't sit still for too long.
i don't have any secrets. sometimes i tell too much.
i love almost everyone i meet immediately.
and with that i better quit.
wait...those last two lines could be taken wrong.
i love everyone i meet but i don't LOVE everyone i meet.
it's time to quit now. guess i should have quit two lines earlier.
did i mention i tend to overthink things?
The subject of tattoos is a sore spot with me because about seven years ago my husband came home from summer camp for the Nat'l Guard with a tattoo on his leg and he didn't even tell me he ever wanted one. It's not that I didn't like the tattoo, I felt like we had a big communication problem.
--I used to play the piano, keyboards, violin, flute, and piccolo.
--I guess my grandpa whom I don't remember because he died when I was 3 had hiccups for two weeks when he was in the hospital.
--My ears are double-pierced.
--I tried out for pom-poms in junior high and didn't make it. Then my friend thought I wasn't cool enough to hang out with after she made pom-poms.
--I started doing "fun runs" when I was 28 and ran a marathon when I turned 30...I don't have any kids and thought I needed to prove something to myself or something like that. I was never the athletic-type. ALSO, I was still 10-20 pounds overweight and didn't lose any weight during training. That was six years ago, and I do 2 miles now. My mantra was: God's will, God's strength, God's joy, I CAN!
--I was born with and extra baby tooth on the middle bottom and no wisdom teeth, either. My mom can still remember the day she was counting my teeth and found the extra one.
--I met my husband in a bar while a band was playing. I used to play keyboards in a band that wasn't very good.
--I tend to over-analyse things also.
Y'all are all awesome! Thanks for responding. I love hearing your different stories. It's funny how I sometimes feel closer to my blog buddies than I do to people I can actually see!
Candace--Freddy was in a band, too. He quit his 6 figure job to pursue it--best move he ever made for our family. He's a graphic artist now, but still rocks da hiz-ouse! Next time we watch Ice T on SVU I'll think of you!
Darla, aka Anonymous--the guy who sat next to me in pre-cal smoked cloves. The smell filled the entire classroom! To this day I can't make a pumpkin pie without being transported back to 11th grade. Ski jump contest?!? I am impressed!
Melanie-Pearl--I have a Melanie, but she's a Mealnie Renae. I also have a Joey, but he's a 7 year old boy, not a chicken! Too funny!!! I'd love to hear more about your daughter attending your wedding! My son attended our wedding en utero...I always wanted real short platinum blonde hair (like the Dixie Chicks chic) but was told that redheads can't reach platinum, only yellow.
K from K--a marathon?!? Awesome! After I did my 5k I was so pumped and ready to train for a marathon, but just couldn't/wouldn't make the time commitment...especially the long runs towards the end of training. Ugh! Maybe someday...
Thanks again, y'all.
Anyone else?!?
Yes, that was fun!
I'm sure glad Darla's still around--Cancer and then the car accident? We cherish you!

CRYSTAL LOUISE--chica my chica! I miss you, too...I always wondered why your toenails were so freakishly short!! ;). When I was little I killed our baby duck. I was swinging with it on our swingset and accidentally choked it to death.
